The sketch here shows the basic concept of the remix of “Symphony in White, No 1: The White Girl” by James McNeil Whistler.
The work will have several purposes.
- Widen the public knowledge of this work and the NGA in general.
- Shift public perspective regarding immigration and whiteness by showing a history of immigration cloaked in white costume.
- Maintain a thread of female empowerment through solitary standing pose without affectation.
- Demonstrate the history of America as a country of immigrants into the present day.
